Mysuru: The Lord Shiva idol in Trinayanatheshwara Temple in Mysuru Palace was decorated with golden Bala Shiva mask weighing 11 kgs to mark Maha Shivaratri festival on Tuesday March 1.

The golden mask was brought from District treasury on Monday February 28. The mask was contributed by erstwhile King Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar in 1952 after birth of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar as he made religious vow to donate mask if male child was born to him.

Various abhishekas were performed to mark Shivaratri festival, and devotees were allowed to visit till 12.00 midnight.
