Two Deer Mauled to Death by Pack of Dogs in Nanjangud


Nanjangud: Two deer were killed in a dog attack in Hedetale village in Nanjangud taluk. The incident began when a stray dog attacked a deer, resulting in its death.


Another deer sustained injuries during the encounter. While forest officials were transporting the injured deer to the Nanjangud Forest Department’s rehabilitation center, it succumbed to its wounds.

The attack occurred while a group of deer were grazing in a field on the village outskirts. A pack of dogs viciously attacked the deer, chasing them into the village itself. One deer was killed within the village. Alert villagers rescued another injured deer. The Forest Department staff rushed to spot and began transporting both the deceased and injured deer to the rehabilitation center. However, during transport, the second injured deer died. 

A postmortem examination was conducted on the deer. Following Forest Department protocols, later they were cremated.
