Mysuru: Vice Chancellor Gulbarga University S R Niranjan said ” I shall strive to provide quality education and introduce skill development programmes for the people belonging to Hyderabad Karnataka region” on Saturday.
He was responding to the grand felicitation organised to him by academicians and friends at University.
He sad, “people of Hyderabad Karnataka region are not getting quality education. More than 322 posts of non teaching and 168 teaching posts have not been filled in Gulbarga University for years and attempts will be made to fill the vacancies. He pledged to uphold to meet the academic requirements and standards in the university and develop it on par with University of Mysore. He remembered that Union Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge had also expressed displeasure over the quality education at Gulabarga.
Medium and Small Scale industries minister Sathish Jarakiholi noted that becoming Vice Chancellor is a good opportunity as it is an independent office of responsibility, one can really show his capabilities. He advised Niranjan to uplift the quality of education of the poor irrespective of the caste they belong to. His service should be such that people should urge for his re appointment. Further he noted that Karburbi is known as a backward district but it is not. Instead it can supply 50% cement to the country and tur dal to the entire country.
Former Minister A H Vishwanath said many will have ability to become Vice Chancellors but only few get the opportunity. At this point, Niranjana should also look forward to building a bridge between Universities and school education. This exposure will have a better impact.
