Wild elephants enter town; panic-stricken locals urge for solution

Mysuru: A herd of nearly 40 elephants damaged a few vehicles on Tuesday and have camped near a police station in HD Kote taluk.
Mysuru elephent 1Four male wild elephants which were found near Taraka reservior in HD Kote taluk entered the bus stand in town and camped near police station creating panic among the police and the locals. The forest department will carry on the operation to drive away the elephants.

The week-fair is scheduled to be held on every Wednesday. Locals now fear that the wild elephants may cause harm to people attending the fair.

On Monday, the wild elephants apart from destroying standing crops, damaged bikes and also an auto rickshaw.

The taluk has been facing several wild animal attacks from many years and the locals have urged to put an end to the elephant menace and come out with a permanent solution to stop wild animals from entering villages.
