Mysuru: A woman working as a Tata product promoter at a Reliance Mart in Hinakal allegedly died by suicide after consuming pesticide, with allegations of workplace harassment emerging from a note reportedly left behind.
The deceased was identified as Nageshwari, who was employed through PPMS Agency, a marketing company.
Family alleges prolonged workplace harassment
According to her family, Nageshwari had been under considerable mental distress for around 15 days and had told them that she was facing harassment at her workplace.
In the note, she allegedly accused her superiors of repeatedly targeting and harassing her over matters that she said were not her fault. She also alleged that she had not been given a weekly day off for four months and was denied emergency leave.
She reportedly further alleged that she was removed from her job after questioning the treatment she was receiving at the workplace.
Family seeks justice
Nageshwari’s mother, Rathnamma, has sought justice for her daughter and action against those responsible for the alleged harassment.
She said the family had noticed a change in Nageshwari’s mental state in recent days and that she had spoken about difficulties at work.
The family has urged authorities to examine the allegations mentioned in the note and take appropriate action if wrongdoing is established.
Police investigate allegations
Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding Nageshwari’s death and the allegations of workplace harassment.
The allegations against the employer and individuals named in the note are yet to be established, and the investigation will determine the circumstances that led to her death.
