Police Dog ‘Siri’ Passes Away, Honoured with Police Honors

Raichur: The police crime dog ‘Siri’ passed away on Monday at the age of 8. A Doberman who served with the Raichur police since 2017, Siri was honoured with a final tribute and burial with full police honours at the city’s police parade ground.

Led by Raichur District Superintendent of Police M. Puttamadaiah, district officials and police personnel gathered to pay their respects, placing floral wreaths on Siri’s body, followed by a salute. Siri had been suffering from age-related health issues in recent days and passed away after refusing food for two days.

Siri joined the police force in 2017 after completing her training in Bengaluru, working alongside her handlers, Jayakumar and Sharanbasava. Over the years, Siri played a pivotal role in solving numerous cases of theft, murder, and robbery in the district. Notably, in 2022, she helped track down suspects in a post office theft in the Manvi police station area. Siri also won first place at the state-level Police Duty Meet and answered 171 service calls during her career.

Additional District Superintendent of Police Shivakumar, Harish, and DYSP (DAR) Pramod Ghodge, along with other officers and personnel, were present at the ceremony to honour the loyal service of Siri.
