A rare and intricately carved Garudanandi pillar has been unearthed in Bilasunur village, located in Harihar taluk, Karnataka. The discovery was made by Dr. Shejeshwara R., Director of the Karnataka State Department of Archaeology, Museums, and Heritage, Kamalapura-Hampi. Standing at 333 cm tall and 66 cm wide, the pillar is made of schist stone. It features a west-facing Nandi sculpture at its top, accompanied by a south-facing Garuda, depicted in a gesture of reverence.
The pillar also includes a 10-line inscription in Kannada script, which contains Sanskrit verses. After careful cleaning, the inscription has now been successfully deciphered, adding significant historical value to the discovery.
