A 70-year-old woman, Shakinabi Mahebubusab Pinjara, tragically lost her life when a wall in front of a house collapsed in Hurasagundagi village on Sunday. Pinjara was sitting next to the wall when it collapsed, causing serious injuries.
She was rushed to Kalaburagi District Hospital for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries en route. Two other women were also slightly injured in the incident.
The wall collapse is attributed to the old age of the house and the accumulation of backwater from the nearby Bhima River barrage. The village had been relocated years ago due to the backwater, but some residents still live in the old houses. Recent rains had further weakened the wall, leading to the disaster.
