Shivamogga, June 17: Former MLC and prominent BJP leader M B Bhanuprakash (69) passed away due to cardiac arrest while participating in a protest against the Congress government’s hike in petrol and diesel prices at Seenappa Setty Circle in the city on Monday.
Incident Details
Bhanuprakash, leading the protest and addressing party workers, collapsed while boarding a car. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Political Background
Bhanuprakash had a distinguished political career within the BJP, serving as state vice-president and district unit president. He was known as the Brahmin face of Karnataka BJP and had close ties with former chief minister B S Yediyurappa.
Final Rites
The last rites of the late BJP leader will take place at Mattur village in Shivamogga taluk later in the evening.
