CID Takes Over Probe into Shivamogga Officer’s Suicide

Shivamogga: The state government has transferred the investigation into the suicide of a Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation officer to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). CID officials have arrived in Shivamogga and begun their probe.

Chandrashekharan, a Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation officer residing in Kenchappa Layout under Vinoba Nagar police station limits, was found dead by hanging in his home. A suicide note was reportedly recovered from the scene.

A six-member CID team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohammed Rafi has reached Shivamogga. The team has already questioned the deceased’s wife, Kavitha, and collected potential evidence from the residence.

Speaking to the media, Kavitha revealed that the CID officers interrogated her for about 45 minutes. She further stated that a pen drive inscribed with the name “Padmanabha” and the pen used to write the suicide note were confiscated by the CID.
