Balkis Bhanu’s political journey began with the Janata Dal, where she first gained recognition. She served as the president of Shimoga Zilla Panchayat in 1994-95. Later, she was appointed the chairman of the Minority Development Corporation in 2014. Her election to the MLC seat is seen as a significant move, given her minority background and her history of service.
Born into a modest family in Bhadravati taluk, Bhanu began her career as a teacher before venturing into politics. Her dedication and service to the party have now earned her a spot in the Legislative Council.
