Tirthahalli: Following the instructions of Forest Minister Ishwara Khandre, the Forest Department conducted an eviction drive on Thursday, clearing 29 acres of encroached forest land at 7 locations within the taluk.

Details of Cleared Land

  • Agumbe Range Forest:13.24 acres in Alageri and Bidaragodu villages
  • Mandagadde Range Forest:6 acres in Kuduvalli village
  • Tirthahalli Range Forest: 7.20 acres in 3 places of Bharathipura and Melinakuruvalli villages
  • Ayanur Range Forest: 2 acres in Gundichatnalli village

The eviction operation faced opposition from villagers. However, the Forest Department successfully cleared and seized the land, constructing a trench using a JCB. Wild species have been planted along the trench’s sides.

DCFO Sivashankar E inspected the cleared land, accompanied by ACF Dinesh S.O., Tirthahalli Zonal Forest Officer Sanjay B.S., Mandagadde Zonal Forest Officer M.P. Adarsh, and Agumbe Zonal Forest Officer Madhukar.
