Shivamogga: Nagaraj (35), an employee in the Dialysis Division of Sagara Taluk Hospital, succumbed to dengue at a private hospital in Shivamogga on Thursday. This marks the first reported dengue-related death in Sagara taluk.

Nagaraj was diagnosed with dengue a few days prior and had been receiving treatment at the private hospital. Unfortunately, his condition worsened, and he did not respond to the treatment. It was also noted that Nagaraj was suffering from diabetes, which may have compounded his health issues.

Dr. Parappa, the Medical Officer of Sagara Taluk, confirmed Nagaraj’s death due to dengue. This incident has raised concerns about the spread of dengue in the region and the need for heightened awareness and preventive measures.

The local health authorities are expected to increase their efforts in combating the mosquito-borne disease, focusing on both prevention and education. The community is urged to take necessary precautions to prevent mosquito breeding and protect themselves from dengue.

This tragic event underscores the importance of addressing dengue fever promptly and effectively, especially in areas where it has not been prevalent historically.
