Chamarajanagar: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed his intention to contest the directive from the Cauvery River water sharing regulation authority, which mandates the daily release of 3,000 cusecs of Cauvery water from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu for a duration of 15 days, in the Supreme Court.
Prior to his involvement in a mass marriage event at Male Mahadeshwara Hills in Chamarajanagar district on Wednesday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah conveyed to the media his determination to contest the matter in the Supreme Court. He emphasized that there would be no compromise on water sharing, despite the current water scarcity, and confirmed that legal experts had already been consulted regarding this issue.
During his visit to Male Mahadeshwara Hills, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated, “I have dispelled the superstitions surrounding Chamarajanagar. I visited the region 12 times during my last term, which spanned five years. The BJP and JD(S) are engaging in political maneuvering regarding the Cauvery issue, and opposition parties will persist in politicizing it.”
Siddaramaiah expressed his prayers and hopes for rain in the state during the severe drought conditions. He mentioned offering special pujas to Madappa and having faith in the possibility of good rainfall.
