The Greater Bengaluru Authority will start towing illegally parked and abandoned vehicles in South Bengaluru from next week.

Bengaluru, April 21, 2026: Greater Bengaluru Authority has announced the launch of towing operations in the Bengaluru South City Corporation area from next week to tackle illegal parking and traffic congestion.

The initiative aims to remove vehicles parked in violation of rules as well as abandoned vehicles that obstruct roads and slow traffic movement.

Six towing vehicles to hit roads

According to officials, six towing vehicles will be deployed under the supervision of traffic police for the operation.

These vehicles are expected to begin field work next week and focus on key congestion-prone stretches across South Bengaluru.

Commissioner inspects fleet

K N Ramesh, Commissioner of the South City Corporation, inspected the towing vehicles on Saturday at the corporation office premises.

He also reviewed their readiness and operational capabilities ahead of the citywide rollout.

Public urged to avoid illegal parking

Authorities have appealed to motorists not to park vehicles indiscriminately on roadsides, footpaths or public stretches.

Officials said improper parking creates bottlenecks, delays emergency movement and worsens daily congestion in busy neighbourhoods.

Traffic management focus grows

The towing drive is part of broader efforts to improve road discipline and traffic flow in South Bengaluru, where increasing vehicle numbers have added pressure on civic infrastructure.

Residents are expected to see stricter enforcement in the coming days.
