Mysuru: Rampura village in Nanjangudu taluk experienced a series of thefts, causing alarm among its residents. One of the victims, Bhavani, the wife of Shivkumar, had her mangala sutra stolen while she was asleep at
Intruders broke into Bhavani’s residence during the night, gaining access through the rear door. They made off with her Mangal sutra, valued at approximately Rs. 3 lakhs. Expressing her anguish, Bhavani, the theft victim, stated, “While I was asleep, the burglars entered through the back door and swiftly stole the Mangala sutra before I could react. The loss of the Mangala sutra, valued at three lakhs, has been profoundly distressing,” she added. Another resident affected by the night of theft, Rajamani, lamented, “We discovered that money and Rs. 40,000 in cash were stolen from our home.”
During the night’s crime wave, several other houses were also targeted. Somappa, a resident, had thieves break into his home and abscond with 5 grams of jewellery stored in two iron boxes, as well as Rs. 40,000 in cash. Additional burglaries took place at the residences of Kadaiah and Rajappa, creating a sense of unease within the community. In a separate incident, the thieves focused on Nagendra’s pump house, where they made off with valuable machinery. The Hullahalli police have initiated a case, and active efforts are in progress to apprehend the culprits.
