Two farmers, Mallesh (48) and Nagendra (45), tragically lost their lives due to electrocution after coming into contact with a live wire in Ayyanapura village under Chandakawadi hobli on Wednesday night. The incident occurred when an electric cable snapped from a pole and fell onto the road, likely as a result of heavy rainfall. The two men were riding a motorbike when they inadvertently touched the live wire, resulting in their immediate deaths.

Following the incident, Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag and senior officials from the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC) visited the scene. They presented a compensation cheque of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased as a form of assistance.

In the aftermath, farmer leaders organized a protest demanding additional compensation, government jobs for the deceased’s family members, and accountability for the negligent CESC officials involved in the incident. This tragic event highlights ongoing concerns about safety and infrastructure, especially during adverse weather conditions.
