Mundagod’s town market witnessed a rise in flower and sugarcane sellers on Tuesday as they prepared for Tulsi Puja. Despite this, traders expressed disappointment over the low turnout of buyers. Flower prices had dropped due to an oversupply of marigolds, while sugarcane prices showed little improvement. Vendors selling marigolds, sugarcane, and tamarind clusters gathered near Shivaji Circle, with business picking up only slightly by evening.
Manjunath, a flower vendor, expressed frustration, noting, “We made better profits during Diwali with a smaller stock of flowers. Now, even with prices slashed by half, customers aren’t buying. The price drop within a month has severely impacted our business.”
Although some families observed Tulsi Puja, the sluggish sales led to concerns among vendors, who had hoped for a more profitable market day.
