The arrest stems from a theft case registered at Turuvekere police station. A month ago, police had arrested Uday alias Ashok (30), a resident of Jigani in Anekal taluk, Bengaluru South district. Uday allegedly sold stolen jewelry to Attica Gold Company shops through his wife.

During Uday’s interrogation, the name of Attica Gold Company manager Harish came up. Further questioning of Harish led to the arrest of Attica Babu.

A team led by Turuvekere station CPI B.N. Lohith traveled to Bengaluru and arrested Babu near his residence in Mariyamma Apartment, Fraser Town.

Uday has 13 theft cases registered against him across various police stations in Tumakuru, Mandya, and Ramanagara districts. Police suspect that jewelry stolen in all these cases may have been sold to Attica Gold Company.

“The accused will be produced before the court on Thursday,” police said.

Attica Babu had previously attempted to secure tickets from JDS and Congress to contest the Tumakuru assembly constituency in the last election but withdrew when unsuccessful.
