Tumkur: Dr. Indusekhar Singh, a resident of S.S. Puram, has fallen victim to a cyber scam, losing ₹17 lakh in an investment scheme promising high returns in the stock market.

The fraudsters initiated contact with Dr. Singh through WhatsApp and introduced him to a group called ‘B5/Capital Gains India’, where they discussed stock market information before moving him into the ‘Golden Sachs Service 20’ group. Here, he was asked to deposit ₹2 lakh to open an ‘Internet Equity Account’, which he duly did.

Assured that this account would yield significant returns on further investments, Dr. Singh transferred an additional ₹15 lakh across multiple bank accounts as advised by the perpetrators. However, his suspicions were raised after encountering difficulties retrieving his funds from various accounts.

Subsequently, Dr. Singh filed a complaint with the Cyber Police in efforts to track down the individuals behind this deceitful scheme, and legal action has been initiated.

The authorities are now actively investigating this case of fraudulent activity involving substantial financial losses for Dr. Singh as they seek justice and resolution for those impacted by such online scams within the community.
