Tumkur: Doctor H. Vidyasagar from Tipatur has been cheated out of ₹36.40 lakh after being promised profits from investing in the stock market.
Vidyasagar, who generally invested in the stock market using an application called ‘Angelon’, came across an advertisement on Facebook related to the stock market. He then joined a WhatsApp group through a link provided in the ad and received information about the share market.
Following this, he was urged to download the ‘SSII’ app and invest money for higher returns. Believing this promise, Vidyasagar transferred ₹40.80 lakh to various bank accounts between June 4th and 21st, with only ₹4.40 lakh returned to him.
The remaining balance was not returned, leading Vidyasagar to file a case against the accused at the police station seeking appropriate action.
