Karnataka is set to enhance tourism at Madhugiri Ekashila Hill with the introduction of a cable car system by July 2025. The state government and tourism department have approved the project, which aims to significantly improve the visitor experience at this popular trekking spot.
Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna announced the development during an event in Madhugiri taluk, where he also inaugurated new warehouse buildings by the Primary Farmers’ Cooperative Society and the Milk Producers’ Cooperative Society of Bijawara village. Rajanna emphasized the importance of expediting the cable car installation, noting that the project, long in the planning stages, will be fast-tracked to ensure completion by mid-2025.
In addition to the cable car system, Rajanna highlighted other initiatives for local farmers. A new loan scheme offering up to ₹5 lakh at zero interest will be launched to support farmers statewide. This scheme, free from caste discrimination, represents a significant step in assisting the agricultural community. The Etthi Hola scheme will also be implemented to guarantee water supply to all farms within the year.
The event also saw the distribution of ₹42.45 lakh in compensation to 82 farmers affected by recent issues. Key figures present included NABARD Officer Kirtiprabha, KMF Director Maidanahalli Kantharaju, DCC Bank Director B. Nageshbabu, and several local leaders and officials.
