Tumkur: In a shocking turn of events, KR Raghavendra, the Development Officer of Heggere village panchayat in the taluk, stands accused of misappropriating approximately ₹50 lakh in tax money for personal use. Taluk Panchayat EO K. Harsh Kumar has filed a complaint with the rural police station against Raghavendra.

A case has been registered against Raghavendra under several sections including Section 420 (cheating) of the IPC. In light of these serious allegations, PDO Raghavendra and Grade-2 Secretary HC Hanumantharaju have been suspended on charges involving embezzlement, dereliction of duty, and negligence.

According to the complaint filed by Taluk Panchayat EO K. Harsh Kumar, funds collected from property taxes and other public fees via Panchatantra-2 software were not deposited into Heggere Gram Panchayat’s bank account as required by protocol. Instead, it is alleged that PDO and staff members utilized these funds for their own benefit.

The illegal cancellation of 1,030 property tax receipts generated between 2022-23 has additionally surfaced as part of this case. It is asserted that public tax money was misused without being deposited into designated accounts—thus defrauding the government.

In light of these concerning accusations detailed in the complaint filed by Taluk Panchayat EO K. Harsh Kumar, appropriate punitive actions are urged against both PDO and implicated staff members involved in this significant financial wrongdoing.
