Thiruvekere MLA MT Krishnappa has urgently called for a suspension of government employee and official transfers during the months of June and July. Addressing a press conference on Monday, Krishnappa emphasized that transfers should only occur when necessary to fill vacant positions. He expressed concern that unnecessary transfers could significantly disrupt the educational and administrative sectors, hindering effective functioning and stability within these critical areas.
Krishnappa’s plea comes amid ongoing debates about the transfer process. He highlighted the potential negative impact of these transfers on the smooth operation of public services and administrative functions. The MLA stressed that any transfer should be carefully considered to ensure it does not adversely affect the efficiency and continuity of services, particularly in education and administration.
Former Vidhan Parishad member Bemel Kantaraju has raised serious allegations regarding the transfer process, suggesting that it has become a business rather than a matter of public service. Kantaraju accused some officials of engaging in a “transfer racket,” where transfers are conducted for personal gain rather than public benefit. He voiced concerns about the growing number of applicants seeking transfers through questionable means, which he believes is undermining the integrity of the system.
Kantaraju’s allegations have sparked a call for an immediate government response to address what he describes as a “transfer scam.” He urged the authorities to investigate these claims thoroughly and implement measures to prevent any malpractice related to officer transfers.
The press conference was attended by key figures including JDS spokesperson Venkatapura Yogeesh, Madihalli Kantharaju, and Mangikuppe Basavaraju, along with union presidents and teachers. The presence of these stakeholders underscores the broad concern about the transfer process and its implications for various sectors.
Union representatives and educators present at the conference echoed Krishnappa’s concerns, stressing the need for stability in the educational and administrative domains. They supported the MLA’s call for a suspension of transfers during the peak months to avoid disruption and maintain the quality of public services.
