Kota Srinivas Poojary, the newly-elected MP for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, emphasized the urgent need to expedite highway road works using modern techniques and increasing workforce capacity.
Speaking at a meeting held at the DC office on Wednesday, June 12, Poojary addressed concerns over the slow progress of ongoing projects from Kalsanka to Indrali Bridge, Karavali Junction to Malpe road, and Parkala to Agumbe National Highway. He expressed dissatisfaction with the current pace of work, highlighting its inconvenience to the public.
Poojary specifically pointed out the sluggish pace at Kalsanka, where road construction covers only 10 meters per day, insufficient to meet project deadlines and causing public inconvenience. He called for active involvement of officials and contractors to enhance work speed.
Regarding delays in the Shiroor to Indrali highway works, Poojary urged authorities to expedite permissions from the forest department for tree cutting, manage rainwater flow along the highway, and ensure proper management of streetlights for enhanced safety.
The meeting also discussed proposals for reconstructing culverts affected by ongoing road works in Udupi municipal areas to minimize disruptions.
