A confrontation between two gangs erupted on the national highway between Udupi and Manipal on May 18, leading to arrests and judicial action. The involved youths, hailing from Kaup, engaged in a brawl that was captured on video and circulated widely on social media platforms.
Law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehended several members of the gangs and presented them before the court. They have been remanded to judicial custody until June 1. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over the sale of a car.
The police have initiated an FIR based on available information, with additional sections expected to be added based on evidence obtained from the viral video footage. Two individuals associated with the Garuda Gang, identified as Ashiq, Rakib, and Saqlan, have been arrested, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Udupi SP Dr. Arun K confirmed the arrests and noted the seizure of two swift cars, two bikes, one sword, and one dagger in connection with the case. This incident highlights the need for vigilant law enforcement and community cooperation to address gang-related violence.
