A viral video showing a KSRTC bus traveling from Karkala to Udupi with its rear doorstep dragging on the road has prompted immediate action from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). The video, which emerged on social media, was captured on the morning of August 29 and showed the bus’s rear step scraping the road due to an uneven surface caused by ongoing construction work.
Upon realizing the issue, the bus driver and conductor quickly stopped the vehicle, ensuring all passengers were safely transferred to another bus. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Following the video’s circulation, the CMO’s grievance cell quickly notified the relevant authorities to investigate. Initial findings suggest the damage was caused by rough road conditions rather than a mechanical failure.
The senior divisional control officer in Mangaluru has instructed technical staff, supervisors, and unit managers to increase vigilance and implement preventive measures to avoid such incidents. They are also encouraged to provide guidance on managing these situations more effectively.
