Udupi: A protest was organized on Tuesday in front of Chantaru village in Brahmavar taluk, led by the Brahmavar Block Congress Committee, to denounce what they called the BJP’s misleading campaigns against the Karnataka Congress government and the anti-public policies of the central leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Congress leader Prasad Raj Kanchan asserted that the Congress-led state government has been offering citizen-centric governance through initiatives like the Pancha Guarantee Scheme. He accused the BJP of spreading misinformation and deliberately confusing the public out of electoral fear.
He further alleged that the previous BJP regime drained the state’s resources by demanding 40% commission on projects. “Despite this, BJP leaders are now twisting the facts and trying to tarnish a government that has earned international appreciation,” Kanchan said.
He took a jab at local BJP MLAs, criticizing their lack of effort in resolving issues in taluk and government offices. “You were elected to represent the people. Instead, you’re indulging in personal favors and ignoring public grievances,” he thundered. Warning of future action, he added, “If this continues, we’ll protest at your homes and offices to expose your failures.”
Former minister K Jayaprakash Hegde supported the protest, emphasizing that the state government has been consistently allocating funds for development. “While progress is visible, BJP continues to deny the truth,” he said.
Present at the protest were District Congress President Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, along with leaders Prakhyat Shetty, Amrutha Shenoy, Anita Babu Poojary, Raghavendra Shetty, and several other prominent local Congress workers.
