Udupi: The Second Additional District and Sessions Court has dismissed a petition by Praveen Chougule, the accused in the brutal murder of a mother and her three children in Nejar, seeking permission to record the witness examination through audio and video.
Bank’s Petition on Accused’s Car Deferred
Meanwhile, the court has reserved its decision on a bank’s request to reclaim the car used in the crime, as loan payments remain unpaid. The ruling will be issued after the trial concludes.
Prosecution Opposes Car Handover
The special public prosecutor objected to returning the vehicle, arguing that its sale could interfere with crucial forensic evidence in the ongoing case.
Next Hearing Set for April 3
Presiding judge Samiulla has scheduled the next hearing on April 3, during which the dates for witness examination will be finalized. Given the trial’s sensitivity, the accused, currently in Bengaluru jail, appeared before the court via video conference.
