Udupi: A court in Udupi has remanded two accused in the shooting case involving former Mudarangadi gram panchayat president and contractor David D’Souza to 10 days of police custody for further investigation.
The accused have been identified as Akash alias Anmol Rastogi from Uttarakhand and Ziaulla alias Deepak from Bihar. Both had earlier been in judicial custody in connection with the case.
Accused produced before court
The two accused were produced before the court on Monday by Kaup police inspector Azmath Ali, who is the investigating officer handling the case.
The police sought custody of the accused to facilitate further interrogation and investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The investigating team reportedly requires the accused to be questioned further as part of efforts to establish the sequence of events and gather additional information related to the case.
Court grants 10-day police custody
The police requested Judge Purushotham to hand over the two accused to police custody for further questioning.
After considering the request, the court allowed the police plea and ordered that Akash alias Anmol Rastogi and Ziaulla alias Deepak be remanded to police custody for 10 days.
The development is expected to allow investigators to question the accused in greater detail and pursue further leads in the case.
