The late Dr P Gururaj Bhat’s birth anniversary programme was inaugurated by Dr Ganapayya Bhat at Milagres College, Kallianpur. The event was organized by the Padoor Gururaj Bhat Memorial Trust in collaboration with the Mangaluru V V History Teachers’ Association ‘Manushya’ to commemorate the centenary of Dr P Gururaj Bhat, the founder-principal of Milagres College.
In his inaugural speech, Dr Ganapayya Bhat, a senior history researcher, reflected on Dr Gururaj Bhat’s profound influence on education and research in Tulunadu. He highlighted Dr Gururaj Bhat’s role in shaping the college and his dedication to supporting students from underprivileged backgrounds. Dr Ganapayya Bhat credited much of his own achievements in research to the inspiration he drew from Dr Gururaj Bhat.
Vincent Alva, Principal of Milagres College, underscored Dr Gururaj Bhat’s enduring legacy and described him not just as a person but as a symbol of strength and progress for the institution. He emphasized Dr Gururaj Bhat’s contributions in putting Tulunadu on the global map.
The event commenced with the offering of flowers to Dr Gururaj Bhat’s portrait and the lighting of the lamp by Ganapayya Bhat. Dr Jayaram Shettigar welcomed the attendees, and Dr Harinakshi M D delivered the vote of thanks. Ravinandan Bhat presided over the event.
Various dignitaries including Parashuram Bhat, Muralidhar Upadyay Hiriyadka, Dr B Jagadish Shetty, Dr Naveen Konajee, Dr Robert Rodrigues, and others graced the occasion.
