In a surprising turn of events, three luxury cars with Dubai registration were seized by the Manipal police following complaints from the public about their excessive noise. The vehicles, owned by three young men of Kerala origin residing in Dubai, were reportedly brought to India for a six-month travel period.
The Owners and the Seizure
The accused individuals were identified as Sulaiman Mohammed (26), Mohammed Sharif (27), and Abdul Nazir (25). These men had imported the high-end Dodge vehicles via ship, paying Rs 30 lakh in taxes in Dubai and Rs 1 crore upon arrival in India. The trio came to Manipal to attend a party hosted by their friends, but the loud engine noise from the cars caught the attention of locals, leading to police intervention.
RTO Investigation and Next Steps
The documents of the luxury vehicles have been forwarded to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for verification. The Manipal police are awaiting clarification from the RTO regarding the legality of operating Dubai-registered vehicles on Indian roads. Further action will depend on the RTO’s findings, and the authorities will proceed accordingly based on the report.
