Udupi: The Canara Runners Club, Manipal, successfully hosted the fourth edition of the Freedom Run 2025 – Spirit of Patriotism on August 10, themed “Stride with Pride for Our Armed Forces.”
Over 5,000 runners took part in various categories — 21 km, 10 km, 5 km, 3 km, and a fun run. The event began at the HO Annexe Building of Canara Bank, Manipal, with the release of tricolour balloons.
The runs were flagged off by notable personalities, including Hariprasad Rai, Captain Ganesh Karnik, Ravikumar Kukatlaopalli, MLA Yashpal Suvarna, and DC Swaroopa T K, who encouraged participants to focus on both physical and mental fitness.
Speakers such as Captain Ganesh Karnik and former MLA K Raghupathi Bhat stressed that freedom comes with responsibility, urging citizens to act for the benefit of future generations. Canara Bank officials expressed plans to replicate the event in Visakhapatnam.
The morning also featured a patriotic performance by Udupi Group of Institutions students and a Zumba warm-up session. Winners received cash prizes during the closing ceremony, anchored by Vishal Singh.
The organising team, led by Canara Bank officials and volunteers, ensured smooth execution, with the presence of dignitaries from law enforcement, business, education, and the community.
