Manipal: Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U T Khader committed to thoroughly examining and discussing the demands of the Koraga community after receiving a memorandum from them on July 31 at the DC’s office in Manipal. Khader recognized the importance of the Koraga community and pledged to address their needs.

Khader stated, “We will review the memorandum and demands with relevant authorities. During my tenure as Health Minister, I introduced several schemes to support the Koraga community. We have always valued their contribution to society and strive to meet their needs.”

He emphasized the critical role of education in resolving many of their issues and encouraged parents to prioritize their children’s education. To improve job prospects, Khader instructed Deputy Commissioner Dr Vidya Kumari to compile a list of educated Koraga community members for job opportunities in the outsourcing sector.

Addressing recent rainfall concerns in Coastal Karnataka, Khader expressed hope that the rain would be beneficial without causing damage. He called for new regulations to prevent natural calamities and ensure scientific construction practices.

On the M11 industry in Nandikoor, Khader assured that it should avoid environmental pollution and contribute positively to regional development. He also expressed sorrow over the recent tragedy in Kerala’s Wayanad district, emphasizing the need for preventive measures and better land management.

Sushila Nada, president of the Koraga Community Development Associations Unit, clarified that their protest was not against any government or political party but a plea for job opportunities.
