Kundapur: A pillion rider was killed and the bike rider seriously injured after a Maruti Swift car collided head-on with a motorcycle near the depot on Jannadi Main Road on September 27.
The deceased has been identified as Ranga Madivala, 42, a resident of Ulloor 74. He was travelling as a pillion rider on the motorcycle when the accident occurred.
Car and bike collide head-on
According to reports, the Maruti Swift was travelling from Koteshwar towards Halady when it collided head-on with the motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction.
Ranga Madivala sustained serious injuries in the impact. He died while being shifted to the hospital.
The motorcycle rider, Rama Madivala, 47, also suffered serious injuries. He was shifted to a private hospital in Kundapur for treatment.
The impact was severe, leaving the front portion of the car completely mangled. The motorcycle was also badly damaged.
Eyewitnesses said the car dragged the motorcycle for around 100 metres following the collision.
Police register case
It is reported that the car was being driven by Bhagavath Raghavendra Mayya, who was returning home with his family members at the time of the accident.
Kota Police visited the accident spot, conducted an inspection and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
