Chairman highlights bank’s growth journey
In his presidential address, Chairman Mr. Anil Lobo thanked the customers for enabling the branch to achieve the milestone within a short period.
Referring to the address of Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Henry Mascarenhas, the Chairman stated that the achievement reflected the trust and confidence the community had placed in MCC Bank.
He recalled that when the present management assumed leadership of the bank in 2018, a manifesto had been presented to members, based on which the Directors were elected.
Mr. Lobo stated that the management had successfully upheld the trust and expectations of members and customers through dedicated efforts and professional administration.
He explained that though several Boards had administered the bank since 2002, significant branch expansion had taken place only after 2018 following a gap of nearly 16 years.
Highlighting the challenges involved in expanding a co-operative bank, he referred to Reserve Bank of India norms relating to NPA, CRAR, CD Ratio, compliance, and financial discipline.
Despite these challenges, he said the bank successfully increased its branches from 16 to 21 within two years with the support of customers, management, and staff.
Expansion plans announced for Udupi district
The Chairman stated that MCC Bank initially had only four branches in Udupi district, which has now increased to eight, while a ninth branch is proposed to be opened at Karapady.
He said the support from people of Udupi district reflected their belief that the growth of MCC Bank contributes to the development of the community.
Mr. Lobo further announced that the bank plans to increase the number of branches from 21 to 25 and celebrate the opening of its silver jubilee branches.
He also noted that MCC Bank achieved a total business turnover of ₹1,525 crore within seven-and-a-half years due to the confidence and trust of customers.
Expressing satisfaction, he added that the newly opened Brahmavar branch had achieved profitability within two years of commencement.
The Chairman appreciated the landlord of Santhekatte Branch for supporting the bank by providing the premises and acknowledged the contribution of founder Branch Manager Mr. Ajith Dsouza towards achieving the ₹10 crore milestone.
He also encouraged the current Branch Manager to continue earning the trust of customers and strive towards achieving higher targets.
Community welfare initiatives appreciated
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Henry Mascarenhas described the achievement as a remarkable milestone reflecting the trust and support extended by customers.
He said the success was not merely a business achievement but the result of dedicated efforts, commitment, and customer-friendly service by the management and staff.
He appreciated the social initiatives undertaken by the bank, including support to schools, recognition of achievers, and welfare-oriented programmes.
Rev. Fr. Henry further expressed hope that the branch would achieve ₹50 crore business turnover in the coming years.
In his address, Mr. Nithin Shetty appreciated the prompt and customer-friendly service rendered by the branch staff.
He stated that while customers in many institutions had to wait several days for loan approvals, MCC Bank processed loan applications within two days.
He also praised the bank for organising meaningful programmes such as book distribution and honouring achievers.
Books and sports materials distributed
During the programme, MCC Bank felicitated children of customers who secured 85 per cent and above marks in board examinations.
The details were announced by Mr. Sandeep Quadros, Senior Manager of Kundapur Branch.
