Udupi: On November 10, 2024, the Udupi branch of MCC Bank Limited moved to a newly acquired, ground-floor location at Sri Shivadhama Commercial, behind Diana Hotel on Ajjarkadu Park Road. The new premises were inaugurated by the bank’s chairman, ‘Sahakara Ratna’ Anil Lobo, with blessings from V. Rev. Fr Charles Menezes, parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi.
The ceremony included several distinguished guests: Sr Jyothi Dsouza, Superior of St Cecily’s Convent, Udupi, as the chief guest; Udupi City Municipal Council President Mr Prabhakar Poojari; renowned advocate Mr Mohammed Iqbal; and businessman Mr Roshan Shetty, as guests of honour. Sr Jyothi Dsouza also inaugurated the branch’s safe room during the event.
In his address, Chairman Anil Lobo explained that the branch was shifted to provide easier access and parking for customers, enhancing convenience. He expressed gratitude for customer loyalty over the past 22 years, during which the branch’s deposits rose from Rs. 7 crore in 2018 to Rs. 26 crore in 2024. To improve banking experiences, he announced future technological advancements, including a mobile app upgrade with UPI and G-Pay integration by March 2025, facilitating remote transactions.
Lobo underscored MCC Bank’s commitment to community service and highlighted various charitable initiatives. He requested continued support to strengthen the bank’s legacy and create new employment opportunities.
Rev. Fr Menezes praised the management for its dedication to customer service and congratulated the team on relocating to a more accessible venue with ample parking. Sr Jyothi Dsouza, too, lauded the bank’s customer-friendly environment and the chairman’s vision for growth.
The MCC Bank Bulletin was released by Mr Prabhakar Poojari, and the editorial team, led by Dr Gerald Pinto, was honoured. Mr Poojari was also felicitated for his contributions and expressed his commitment to supporting the bank.
The programme included Deepavali group photo contest prize distribution, and honors were presented to local achievers and customers with recent birthdays. The owner of the new premises, Mr T.N. Amin, and civil engineer Mr Karthik Kiran were also acknowledged for their support.
The Udupi branch staff was introduced by General Manager Mr Sunil Menezes, who encouraged community support for the branch’s growth. The event, opened by a prayer song led by Ancilla Fernandes and team, concluded with a vote of thanks by Branch Manager Mr Pradeep Dsouza, with Mr Steevan Colaco as the event’s compere.
The relocation marks a significant step forward for MCC Bank Udupi, aligning its services with modern conveniences while continuing its tradition of community engagement and customer care.
