Udupi: Raising concerns over persistent network disruptions in Udupi and Chikkamagaluru, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has pressed BSNL officials to enhance mobile tower maintenance and accelerate new infrastructure development.

During a meeting on Tuesday, he noted that although BSNL runs 196 mobile towers in the district, 75 face battery issues, hampering service reliability. He stressed the urgency of resolving these faults, especially in rural areas where connectivity is inconsistent.

Despite the approval of 30 out of 180 planned towers, work has been slow. Poojary urged BSNL to speed up installation and tackle land acquisition hurdles, ensuring uninterrupted network access across the region.

Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari K emphasized safety considerations when setting up towers near educational institutions. The discussion also touched on the 4G network transition and the challenges in upgrading infrastructure.
