A unique frog with a colorful pattern has been discovered in Basrur, Kundapur. The Indian Painted Frog, also known as the Sri Lanka bullfrog or Uperodon taprobanicus, has become the talk of the town.

The frog’s striking appearance features a greyish-black color with a symmetrical pattern of reddish-brown patches. It is a tree frog that lays its eggs in stagnant water bodies like lakes and ponds. Native to Sri Lanka and India, this species inhabits tree holes, burrows, and wetland areas.

The Indian Painted Frog has a unique relationship with the Poecilotheria tarantula, where the spider protects the frog from predators. Listed as “least concern” on the IUCN Red List, this frog has become a fascinating attraction in Kundapur. Its discovery has sparked interest among locals and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
