SMVITM Students Lead Successful Beach Cleaning Drive

On December 1, the NSS-YRC unit of SMVITM organized a large-scale beach cleaning drive to mark National Pollution Control Day. Held from 7:30 am to 9:30 am near the Malpe Beach Sea Walk area, the event saw more than 150 students and faculty members enthusiastically participating to clean the beach and promote environmental awareness.

Under the leadership of NSS coordinators Raghunath, Jayaram Nayak, Reshma, and Babitha Poojari, the participants collected around 35 bags of litter, including plastic waste, glass bottles, and other non-biodegradable materials. The event aimed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of pollution on the environment and emphasize the importance of keeping beaches clean.

The college principal, Dr. Thirumaleswara Bhat, along with the college management, praised the students for their efforts. The success of the event reflected the students’ commitment to environmental sustainability.

The NSS-YRC unit plans to continue such initiatives, fostering environmental consciousness and encouraging sustainable practices within the community.
