Udupi: It is unfortunate that incidents of theft from empty houses continue to occur in Udupi city. In a recent event, thieves broke into an empty house in Budnar and stole valuable items, including a laptop, a tablet, and an estimated Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, with the possibility of gold ornaments being stolen as well.
The house belonged to K. Mohammad, who passed away six months ago. It was occupied by his mother and daughter. The theft was discovered when the maid found the door broken on Sunday morning after being instructed to clean by the family’s housekeeper. It is believed that the thieves gained entry by removing the lock from the door.
The police are currently investigating this case, attempting to determine the exact value of the stolen property and planning to register an FIR once all necessary information has been collected. Despite their efforts, identifying those involved may be challenging due to a lack of CCTV footage in the area where the incident occurred.
Furthermore, another incident involving break-ins at three apartments near Brahmagiri is still under investigation, with authorities attempting to make sense of various CCTV footage to identify potential movements made by the suspects.
It is disheartening that such carefully planned thefts have taken place, and it is crucial for police investigations to yield successful outcomes so that justice can be served for those affected by these crimes within Udupi city.
