Udupi – In a significant development in the ongoing Naxal-related investigations, three individuals currently in judicial custody were produced before a court in Kundapur under body warrants for pending cases registered in the Shankaranarayana, Amasebailu, and Kollur police stations, all falling under the Kundapur sub-division.
The suspects — B.G. Krishnamurthy and Savitri, lodged at the Viyur Central Jail in Kerala, and Vanajakshi, detained in a Bengaluru prison, were physically presented before Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Abdul Rahim Hussain Sheikh on Thursday.
The court appearance comes as part of an ongoing legal process, with cases filed under various charges related to Naxal activities. The chargesheet filing process for incidents within the jurisdiction of the Kundapur sub-division has reportedly been completed. The court directed the prosecution to set a new date for the continuation of the hearings.
In addition to those produced in person, Tombattu Lakshmi and Kanyakumari, both under judicial custody, attended the proceedings via video conferencing. Meanwhile, Neelguli Padmanabha, who has already been granted bail in the case, was present physically during the hearing.
Sources confirm that multiple cases tied to Naxal operations in the region are now at various stages of legal scrutiny, with the judiciary actively monitoring progress.
These court proceedings mark a step forward in addressing long-pending cases linked to alleged Naxal activity in the coastal and Malnad regions of Karnataka.
