Two tragic incidents occurred in Udupi on Sunday, where two individuals lost their lives after being struck by trains.
In the first incident, Loco Pilot Ankul M. of train number 16337 (Okha-Ernakulam) reported hitting a man near the 655/8 electric pole of the Hattiyangadi Railway Bridge. Kishan Kumar, a railway track maintainer from Basroor, arrived at the scene at 5:30 PM and found the body, later identified by locals as Nagesh from Abbiguddi. Nagesh is believed to have died from severe head injuries. A case has been registered at Kundapur Rural Police Station.
In another incident, Shruthi, a resident of Uppoor Village, reported that her father, Manjunath (alias Mijira), 65, was accidentally hit by a train while walking along the railway track after picking up a meal parcel from his sister’s house. The accident likely occurred between 5 PM and 7 PM near Heranje Railway Gate. A case has been registered at Brahmavar Police Station.
