Udupi: The Udupi District Congress Committee on Wednesday staged a protest against the alleged NEET paper leak and condemned the reported police action on Congress leaders and workers during demonstrations in New Delhi.
Led by district party leaders, the protest witnessed Congress workers raising slogans against the Central Government and demanding accountability over the alleged irregularities in the national medical entrance examination.
Congress demands transparent probe
Addressing the gathering, Congress leaders alleged that the reported NEET paper leak had caused uncertainty among lakhs of medical aspirants and undermined the credibility of the examination process.
They urged the Centre to conduct a fair and transparent investigation into the allegations and ensure that students are not deprived of equal opportunities due to examination irregularities.
The party also demanded strict action against those found responsible for any lapses in the conduct of the examination.
Leaders condemn police action in Delhi
The protesters also criticised the reported police action against Congress leaders and workers who were demonstrating over the issue in the national capital.
Party leaders said peaceful protests are a democratic right and expressed concern over the alleged use of force against demonstrators.
Holding placards and raising slogans, the Congress workers called for justice for students and greater transparency in the conduct of national-level examinations.
The protest concluded with the submission of a memorandum urging the Central Government to safeguard the interests of students and restore public confidence in the examination system.
