Udupi SP Dr. Arun Kumar has confirmed that the death of 38-year-old Sridhara, a hotel worker, whose body was found near Ananta Kalyana Nagara in Manipal on Friday morning, was a suicide and not a murder. Initial investigations raised suspicions that Sridhara had been murdered with his throat slit by a beer bottle. However, after a detailed inspection of the crime scene and CCTV footage from a nearby shop, it was concluded that Sridhara had taken his own life.
Sridhara, a resident of Kasarakoda, worked at a hotel in Manipal and lived with his co-workers near Syndicate Circle. CCTV footage captured him walking to the location early in the morning, where he suddenly slit his own throat with a beer bottle and collapsed. The gruesome incident left his throat nearly severed. At the scene, only the beer bottle and an empty bag were found.
Authorities suspect that Sridhara may have consumed narcotics before taking the drastic step. A post-mortem was conducted at KMC Manipal, and while foul play has been ruled out, the investigation remains ongoing. The public has raised concerns, but Dr. Arun Kumar assured that the CCTV footage confirms the suicide theory.
