In a major offensive against drug trafficking, Udupi district police apprehended two individuals suspected of being key players in the continued distribution of banned narcotics in the region.
The accused have been identified as Krishna Achari (43) of Kolalagiri and Abdul Jabtar (27) from Kelarkalabettu. Both men have been formally booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and are currently lodged in judicial custody at Dharwad Central Jail.
These arrests followed an extended covert surveillance operation conducted by law enforcement authorities. The suspects had been under observation for a considerable period due to consistent intelligence inputs regarding their illicit activities.
Police officials revealed that the accused were allegedly engaged in wide-scale distribution of narcotics across several localities within the district. Their arrest is expected to significantly disrupt the supply network and curb access to these harmful substances in the area.
The district police reiterated their commitment to maintaining stringent vigilance and pursuing all leads related to drug peddling networks. This operation is part of a broader initiative to eliminate narcotics from reaching the youth and vulnerable populations of Udupi.
Authorities have urged the public to report suspicious activities and cooperate in their mission to build a drug-free community. Further investigations are underway to trace the broader connections and sources of supply related to the case.
