Udupi: Udupi-based researcher R Manohar has received the Golden Book of World Records award for developing a low-cost 200x binocular and a highly powerful 240x binocular.
Manohar announced the recognition at a press conference in Udupi, where he explained the features and capabilities of the binoculars he developed.
Binoculars offer high magnification
According to Manohar, the devices combine the functioning of a telescope with binocular viewing, allowing users to observe distant objects using both eyes.
He said the binoculars have the capability to view objects from a distance of approximately 20 kilometres, while offering high magnification.
The recognition was given for two inventions — an affordable 200x binocular and a 240x high-power binocular.
Manohar said the focus of his work was to develop powerful viewing equipment at a relatively low cost, making the technology more accessible to users.
Award presented in Udupi
The award and certificate were presented to Manohar by the Asia head of the Golden Book of World Records during an event held recently at Hotel Kidiyoor in Udupi.
The recognition acknowledges his work in developing the high-magnification binoculars and marks a milestone in his research and innovation efforts.
Manohar said the official certificate related to the award is expected to be received by the end of September.
Researcher highlights affordable innovation
The researcher said the development of the binoculars was aimed at combining high magnification with affordability.
The 200x model has been described as a low-cost option, while the 240x model is designed to provide greater magnification for viewing distant objects.
The devices, according to Manohar, can be used for observing objects at considerable distances while retaining the convenience of binocular-style viewing.
The recognition from the Golden Book of World Records has brought attention to his work in the field of optical equipment and innovation in Udupi.
Manohar said he would continue to focus on developing practical and affordable technologies that can have wider applications.
