The Udupi tourism department has issued a stern warning to homestays and resorts, urging them to operate responsibly and without disturbing local residents. This move follows numerous complaints from locals regarding some establishments violating regulations and engaging in unethical practices, leading to disruptions in the community.

The department stressed that all registered homestays and resorts must comply with the stipulated conditions to avoid inconveniencing the public. Any breach of these rules could result in the cancellation of their licenses.

As per the Karnataka Tourism Trade Facilitation (KTTF) Act 2015, tourism-related activities, including homestays and resorts, require proper approvals from the tourism department. The authorities have also flagged concerns about certain establishments operating without the necessary licenses, warning that such unauthorized activities will be immediately shut down.
