Kollur, Udupi District: In a heart-wrenching incident on Saturday, two young siblings lost their lives after accidentally falling into a well at their residence in Nandrolli village in the Bellala Panchayat jurisdiction of Kollur Police Station.
The deceased have been identified as Dhanaraj (13) and his sister Chaya (7), children of Sheela and Satish Madivala, residents of Nandrolli. According to initial reports, the children were playing near the well when they slipped and fell in.
Upon hearing the commotion, their mother, Sheela, rushed to save her children. In a desperate attempt to rescue them, she also fell into the well and sustained serious injuries. Sheela has been admitted to Kundapura Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Local authorities were alerted immediately, and a rescue operation was launched. However, despite the best efforts of the rescue team, both children were pronounced dead on the spot.
Kollur police have registered a case and investigation is going on.
