In Keyyur village, a woman named Margaret, a Kerala native, fabricated a story about a group of masked dacoits, known as the ‘Chaddi Gang,’ attempting a violent robbery at her home. She claimed that the assailants demanded cash and gold and that she narrowly escaped. Her video quickly went viral, prompting police to investigate.

During questioning, police discovered Margaret’s story was entirely false. CI Ravi B S found photos on her phone linked to an unrelated incident in Kerala from two years ago. These images were actually part of a staged video involving forest dwellers in Kottayam. Margaret had previously lied to her landlord, Baathish, about being bitten by a snake, which raised suspicions about her latest claims. Disturbed by the panic caused, Baathish asked Margaret and her family to vacate the rented property.

Margaret, who had been living in Keyyur for 40 days with her husband and child, resisted police questioning, even threatening to involve Kerala authorities. CI Ravi B S confirmed the story was fabricated, and Keyyur gram panchayat president Sharat Kumar Madavu stated the clarification has reassured residents.
